DESCENDANT

A textile shirt developed by DESCENDANT, in tradition to their spring & summer seasons.

The first textile shirt released in 2016, the brand's debut spring & summer collection.
They were available for adults and kids. A knife was chosen as the motif for the textile.
In modern times knives are considered as a dangerous item and are kept away from children, however, when Nishiyama, the director, received a knife from his father, who loved camping when he was a child, remembers how he felt something unusual, inheriting something special from the parent to the child, in the form of initiation.

Arguably, knives are the best tool for camping outdoors.
A knife is a tool that creates something from scratch.
To “make” is also to “create.”
A tool suitable for creating DESCENDANT.
With that in mind, it became the first motif for the textile shirt of DESCENDANT.

From then on, when the summer ends and the fall rolls in, the next seasons' textile shirt's motif is decided.
Thinking back on the memories from the spring through summer of the year, Nishiyama spends time looking through pictures spent with his family, and the textiles are created by narrowing down the motifs associated with those memories.

In addition, this season's 2020 Spring & Summer collection will introduce a textile shirt with the motif of a marine iguana, a species only found on the Galapagos Islands.
The origin of the shirt is due to Nishiyama's son, who dreamt of living with a monitor lizard last year. It's based on the memories of often visiting a reptile pet store together.

A textile shirt that is released for the ephemeral seasons of summer, that can wear as a parent and child pair when traveling, something that can be changed into at dusk just before heading out to dinner, a textile shirt that can be enjoyed in fun and elegance, and in hopes, you create memories of the summer.
