Knitwear in harbor town.

There is an American movie called “Mystic Pizza,” released in 1988. It is a romantic comedy about a trio of girls who work at a pizza shop in the countryside of Connecticut. The story is set in a harbor town where the men are fishermen and all sailors.

Before she was in Pretty Woman, Julia Roberts appeared in this film, which was actually Matt Damon’s debut, albeit in a small role. For me, what I remember is that this movie features an adorable girl wearing a fisherman’s knit.

KNIT: MAIN NOT CABLE KNIT

When it comes to fisherman knit, especially Aran knitwear, images of Steve McQueen are often featured in magazines. However, the casual, ordinary style from “Mystic Pizza” has always left an impression on me. I believe the movie was released in Japan in 1990. I worked part-time at a pizza shop in Ebisu around that time, and this movie was why I worked at one. (laughs)

Side story: in the movie, the pizza shop staff wore T-shirts with the phrase “A SLICE OF HEAVEN” printed on the chest and this is where I learned merchandising.

I created a total of six types of knitwear this season. In typical DESCENDANT fashion, most of the knits are made from materials that dry quickly, such as acrylic and polyester, so that they can be worn near the sea. I'm not saying you can only wear them at the beach, but please enjoy them in the mountains and town. I think it would also be nice to wear it as a classic style during skiing.
