DESCENDANT

Topologie is a brand founded by a French climber.
I believe it originally started out as making equipment for rock climbing. I loved the functionality of these tools, so I worked with them to create products.

For example, this 10mm wide rope is apparently used for long-distance big wall climbing, but in the ocean, it is called a sheet and refers to the rope that adjusts the tension of a sail. If you put your smartphone in a case, attach the rope strap and keep it hanging from your shoulder at all times, you free up both hands, and you will be less likely to drop it. I wanted to create a textile that would have the feel of mountain boot shoe laces, using the brand’s navy and gray colors and knitted in an argyle pattern.

This 10mm rope strap can be combined with a phone case that has the CETUS graphic printed on it. It can also be attached to a chalk bag. A chalk bag is a bag used to hold powdered chalk when rock climbing, but DESCENDANT is releasing it as a part of the THINC PROJECT, using recycled sails from yachts as the fabric. Since the sails have served their purpose, there are stains from being exposed to the sea breeze for long periods. They are stitched in a zigzag pattern like they would be on a yacht to make them less likely to tear. Each one is different.

The LOCKUP logo includes the original name along with each brand's name, with DESCENDANT featuring an orca's dorsal fin and Topologie's mountain mark.

It took a while from planning to productization, but it’s finally complete.

The collaboration products with Topologie will be available from Thursday, 8/8, at all DESCENDANT stores and dealers and the official Topologie online store.
