HELLY HANSEN × DESCENDANT FIBERPILE® COLLECTION

Items used in everyday life in the city can have a completely different impression when used in nature, away from daily life. In some cases, they can become trustworthy tools, and by fulfilling their role in an appropriate environment, they can have intrinsic value and make the user's life much more enjoyable. For me, HELLY HANSEN is such a tool.

The three-layered shell parka and bib I created with HELLY HANSEN in the past are exactly that. I wear them for daily use, as well as when I head out to sea fishing or skiing in the mountains. This setup, which has now become my tool, makes things enjoyable when in the snowy mountains.

This collaboration is a capsule collection of a hoodie, scarf, gloves, and flapper cap made from FIBERPILE®, a fabric that was developed by HELLY HANSEN long ago, to protect sailors and fishermen working in the harsh Norwegian winters and features textiles seen on DESCENDANT’s familiar Serape blankets.

These are items that can be used in any environment, from everyday streetwear to extraordinary adventures in nature.

Just a personal side note, I use a chest rig that is supposed to be used for fly-fishing, when I ski with my kids to store their belongings because I thought it would be convenient. When you get closer to an object's essential purpose, the object becomes closer to you, and by mastering how to use it, you become even closer to the object. I enjoy thinking about the when, where, what, and how to use something.
