DESCENDANT

I wanted to start this autumn with the styles of our friends. We don’t often get the chance to see how they normally wear DESCENDANT clothes, so as the people who make them, it’s interesting to us, and we’re very happy to be able to see them that way. After doing this for many years, these little glimpses into these everyday lives feels fresh to us. For this Director’s Cut, rather than directing them, we simply had each person appear in their own usual style.

As generations change, I remember seeing a friend’s daughter wearing a varsity jacket that we made more than 20 years ago. She had inherited it from her father and made it her own, and at that time I remember thinking, “That’s exactly how it should be,” and feeling a sense of satisfaction.
