SEASON’S GREETINGS 2026 Spring / Summer COLLECTIONWhen I pick up and look at old DESCENDANT items at "DEN", Descendant Tokyo's inner parlor, I sometimes find myself thinking that even if something is, for example, from ten years ago, because the item itself is a timeless, standard piece, it would probably blend quite naturally into lifestyles today.

This season’s collection isn’t so different from what we have created, but the details have been changed to reflect the times and our mood. With our shirts, we created open-collar styles reminiscent of men’s fashion of the Shōwa era; for fabrics, we experimented with Awa Shijira-ori from the Tokushima; and the vivid green of vegetables from Miura are featured in the T-shirt graphics.
As someone from Generation X who grew up on American propaganda in the 1980s, I feel that only now, in the 2020s, I’m finally beginning to understand those subtleties, as they loosen and settle into place in a way that feels just right.

To play. To eat. To work the soil. To head out to sea.
As spring approaches, our once inward-turned minds and bodies begin to turn outward again. I’ve come to realize that the experiences gained in nature offer us fresh inspiration and, in turn, become a source of energy in our everyday lives.

This is a term, a coined word, that was the starting point for creating DESCENDANT. A master in the art of living does not draw hard lines between work and play, labor and leisure, mind and body, or education and entertainment. I think that, for a “lifist”, it always feels as though they are engaged in both at the same time.
Clothes you can wear comfortably, whether in nature or the city, while enjoying yourself. Lately, I’ve been thinking that I want this brand to resonate with people who cherish those kinds of moments.
