FEATURE 168
Ready to SummerFEATURE 168
Ready to SummerLooking back, this is our first FEATURE in a year, and the Deck Crew, styled by DESCENDANT, is delivering style for this summer.
Summer is just around the corner.

First is the coach style. In this look featuring elastic-waist pants, a T-shirt is tucked into the hem of the tussah silk shorts. When wearing elastic-waist bottoms, blousing the top, just like a sports coach would, feels right for the current mood. As coaching is also a job, then this could perhaps be seen as a variation of workwear style.

Pairing a long-sleeve top with shorts has been one of my favorite styles since the 1980s. People often say it is an unfamiliar pairing because the Japanese climate makes it difficult to time right, but at the end of the day, I just love this look.

Next is a look with the T-shirt tucked into the trousers. This model, called the CLASP, features elastic-waist easy pants with an integrated webbing belt, giving them the feel of climbing trousers.

This is another long-sleeve t-shirt and shorts combination. When a long sleeve is paired with cargo beach shorts, this is how it looks. Don't forget to include a bandana in your pocket to use as a handkerchief.

If we go beyond "dad style" all the way to "grandpa style," this is what I feel the result would be. A short-sleeve button-down shirt paired with shorts and a golf hat. Add in white socks, and have the shirt fully buttoned up and the hem left untucked. This combination reminds me of an old gentleman I once saw walking down Madison Avenue in New York, who was dressed exactly like this.

Take the America's Cup yacht race, for example. I am heavily influenced by the casual outfits worn by the staff at these formal American events. Beige chino pants paired with a short-sleeve button-down shirt is the designated uniform for these working people. The ones working indoors take off their hats, and they can do incredible rope work. Uniforms like this, which become a part of a person's identity, are really amazing.

Next is a pair of high-density pants made with weather fabric that has a crisp texture. The form, which features a wide silhouette that drops straight down from the thigh, feels quite contemporary. Leaving the T-shirt hem untucked for a relaxed look creates a great contrast to the tucked-in styles.

This is the latest version of our classic, all-over print open-collar shirt that we release almost every summer. It is a classic summer item, and the pattern was drawn by sign painter MASA (MASA SCULP). It depicts drift ice and the creatures that live there, including beluga whales, killer whales, penguins, and polar bears. NYM on the left is wearing a size L, and SNO on the right is wearing the KIDS size.
