DESCENDANT

Following the “CAMPUS,” “RIVALRY,” “BUSENITZ,” and “CAMPUS,” this is the fifth collaboration with adidas Originals with the masterpiece “GAZELLE.”
In the 1990s, everyone was looking for a CAMPUS because of (or should I say thanks to) the Beastie Boys, but for the fall of 2023, I felt like the “GAZELLE,” a shoe that was always looked past while most focused on the “CAMPUS,” was the right fit. “GAZELLE” debuted as training shoes in the 1960s. It has a much richer history and variety than you might think, so we’ve taken a standard adidas pair and mashed it up into something you won’t find anywhere else.

DESCENDANT combines environmentally friendly vegan materials such as synthetic suede, synthetic leather and recycled polyester and has been updated with waterproof and breathable GORE-TEX® specifications. (DESCENDANT tries to be animal-free and avoids using animal-derived leather as much as possible.) In other words, if you wear them on a rainy day, your feet won’t get wet and will feel great. We created a color scheme you rarely see, using a black base with mustard lines and gum soles. The three stripes zigzag stitching resembles the design of a yacht’s sail. DESCENDANT’s early slogan, “Give Life Meaning,” was printed on the back of the shoe tongue and the extra shoe laces.

The color of this “GAZELLE” was created with the image of styling them with a trench coat, an item that represents the autumn season. As winter approaches, there will be more beige and brown colored items that will pair well with them. I think it would also go well with tapered bottoms.
