DESCENDANT

I started to living near the Miura a few years ago.
It’s a tourist destination during the warmer months but I don’t mind the winter months which are Miura’s off-season when it’s not the high season of summer. There are many elderly people there and the town is old which I’m attracted to this kind of old-fashioned atmosphere than the hustle and bustle of the city. I think it’s because I’ve gotten older, I became more and more ready to accept this Lind of Japanese culture.

Since I started spending weekends at the beach, not only fishing, diving in the sea or eating fish but also visiting various places based on my interests.

A certain lavender hill is often seen from the sea while on boat which has a cool look that reminds me of the coast of England. There is a restaurant that has a Showa-era nearby and the view of Sagami Bay from there is truly amazing including the exposed geological formation.

I stopped by a coffee shop. The owner is a big fan of movies and the content he holds, I feel, is more educational than attending a specialized school. Similar to this coffee shop, when I pass a place that catches my attention, I like to pop in and take a look. I look into it based on my values without being influenced by another's evaluation. This kind of experience is fun because it's based on your values and this type of approach expands as you age. It is a great thing.

There is a shrine there and ever since I started going out to sea, I have been receiving prayers and amulets for the safety at sea. The summer festivals in this area are really exciting because the people in town come out all at once.

Being a fishing village, there are many fish shops nearby which is nice. I eat fish almost every day so on day when we can’t catch anything, we go there.

Over the past few years, I have found spending time in this seaside town extremely valuable. I’m here with my own values and surprisingly I feel more comfortable than Tokyo. You can see the sky and feel relaxed.

Before you know it, it’s already a year end.
