Long sleeves are recommended.FEATURE 117
Long sleeves are recommended.Nowadays, we often see people wearing long sleeved T-shirts (referred to as long T) as commonly as short sleeves (referred to as T-shirts), but this was not the case in the 80s.
At that time, I think both T-shirts and long T, especially plain ones, were viewed as underwear. However, in the fashion scene, this was not the case at all and many domestic brands released these items, such as Hitomi-san (Hitomi Okawa) from MILK BOY and Nobu-san (Nobuhiko Kitamura) from HYSTERIC GLAMOUR.
Considering that the era was heavily influenced by foreign culture, the hybrid long-sleeve T-shirts that combined UK punk and later hip-hop were very impressive. Looking back on the scene at the time, we realized that we were starting to be influenced by the BMX and skateboarding culture that originated on America's West Coast. Although this style was different from that which had preceded it, I think we were beginning to accept it.

This was an era when jersey items such as T-shirts, long Ts, hoodies, crewneck sweatshirts and sweatpants became the basis of American sportswear and the category of cut-and-sewn was emerging as casual wear. The scene was more about everyday wear over fashion. My friends and I relied on movies, MTV and THRASHER MAGAZINE to peek into how kids in the same age group in America were dressing. Now that I think about it, as I mentioned earlier, it was born out of daily life rather than fashion.

Among them, the long T is one of my favorite items. I guess it’s nice that even though it has become common, you don’t see many people wearing them. As always, I created long sleeves for this season. I have been making them since DESCENDANT started 10 years ago and I believe that not many other brands make as many long sleeves every season. (Laughs)
