DESCENDANT

Today, we visited Kimihisa Senju-san’s shop, "UFO" (UPPER FIELD ONE), located in Uehara. I first met Senju-kun when I was in high school, and now, our families often hang out together.

"When we first met, Tetsu-kun was riding a Harley even though he was a high school student. (Laughs) We've both been blessed with children, so we have more opportunities to spend time together. Although my youngest children are still 1 and 2 years old, and I'm still pretty tied up with them.

It's already been seven years since I opened the shop in Uehara, but I still start my mornings by cleaning up. The shop is only open on Fridays, but the back is a studio, so I work out of there every day.

My image of DESCENDANT is just 'love.' There aren't brands that can be worn together as a family. Children's clothes get worn out quickly, but that's also proof that they are healthy. My T-shirts are usually boxy, as I like to wear them slightly larger, but T-shirt designs are like stickers on cars, they can give you insight as to what kind of person he/she is. They are like business cards, and by seeing a T-shirt someone is wearing, you can feel a sense of relief or become closer to them.

When I was wearing a BLACK FLAG T-shirt, the father of a foreign classmate of my child said to me, "I have been to their show."' I feel that T-shirts have the ability to communicate. It's interesting to connect with people in unexpected places. But more than anything, I'm happy that Tetsu-kun is wearing the T-shirts that I made. (Laughs)" Kimihisa Senju
